I'd never painted a thing in my life before 2015, but the moment I picked up a paintbrush, I was hooked.
What started as a simple project—refinishing a pair of my mother's hand-me-down French Provincial side tables—quickly turned into a passion. While searching DIY blogs for inspiration, I discovered the world of furniture art, and it felt like the perfect blend of everything I've always loved: creativity, special effects, faux finishing, and transformation.
A longtime dream of mine has been to work on props and set pieces, and furniture art has become my canvas for developing those skills. Every distressed edge, aged finish, and timeworn detail you see on my pieces is intentionally created. Authenticity matters to me, and I take great pride in the craftsmanship behind every project.
My style has evolved dramatically over the years. I started with farmhouse-inspired chalk and milk paint finishes, experimented with decoupage and faux patinas, and now find myself fully embracing my colorful era—blended finishes, bold details, and artistic embellishments. I'm always excited to learn new techniques and push my creativity further.
I work almost exclusively with Dixie Belle Paint products, which allows me to create beautiful, high-quality finishes while continually exploring new possibilities in furniture art.
One of the things I value most is commission work. When someone trusts me with a special piece of furniture or décor, my goal is simple: bring their vision to life. Whether it matches my personal style or not, I believe our role as artists is to create beauty that brings joy to others. If a piece makes someone smile every time they see it, then I've done my job.
If you've ever thought about trying furniture refinishing yourself, my advice is simple:
🎨 Go for it!
Paint is forgiving. Colors can be changed. Techniques can be learned. You only get one life—surround yourself with things you love looking at every day.
Thank you for supporting my journey and allowing me to share my art with you. ❤️
